Fox Cares Foundation Donates $75,000 to Local Food Pantries

With the recent government shutdown and inflation putting a strain on many household budgets, local food pantries have been serving more people than ever. That’s why the Fox Cares Foundation stepped up in an incredible way—donating $75,000 to three local food pantries.

Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay, St. Joseph Food Program in Menasha and Oshkosh Area Community Pantry each received $25,000, a gift that will help ensure thousands of families have meals on their tables this holiday season.

Meeting the Demand

“This generous gift couldn’t come at a more critical time,” said Ryan Rasmussen, Executive Director of the Oshkosh Area Community Pantry. “We’re seeing more families than ever turning to us for help.”

The food pantries provide emergency food assistance to anyone in need, offering a dignified shopping experience rather than pre-packaged boxes. Fox Cares Foundation’s donation allows the pantries to stock nutritious food during these challenging times.

“People don’t want to have to come to a pantry. With everything that is happening with high cost of food, high cost of housing, the high cost of insurance, there are more and more people struggling to make ends meet,” said Monica Clare, Executive Director of St. Joseph Food Program. “Thank you to the Fox Cares Foundation and Fox Communities Credit Union … we appreciate all that they do to get behind us when we’re straining to have the resources we need.”

A Foundation Built to Serve

Established in 2016, the Fox Cares Foundation is dedicated to ending homelessness, fighting hunger and providing access to the arts to the areas Fox Communities Credit Union serves. Though separate entities, the credit union is a major supporter of the Foundation's annual fundraising events, and hosts the largest fundraiser, Bike to the Beat, where every penny of the event's registration fees goes to the Foundation.

When Amanda Brown stepped into her role as Executive Director of the Foundation in September, she felt strongly about using the Foundation’s resources to make a positive impact.

“This is a moment where we felt compelled to go above and beyond,” Brown said. “Our Board of Directors took a close look at our financial position and agreed that now is the time to act.”

Growing Stronger, Together

The three pantries are thankful to the community for rallying behind them during this time of unprecedented need. With the Fox Cares Foundation’s donation and other community support, they can continue feeding families who need it most.

“In a world where there is so much going wrong, it’s so wonderful to be a part of so much going right. That’s what this gift is,” said Bob Hornacek, the Assistant Executive Director of Paul’s Pantry. “When the need rises, the community support matches it and it’s so beautiful to be able to witness that and to be a part of it on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.”

And thanks to the Fox Cares Foundation’s gift, thousands of neighbors will feel the impact of that generosity.
