A Positive Ending
Our Fraud Expert, Heidi Kiecker, shares a positive ending to a scam incident.
In May, we had a member fall for a PayPal spoofing and refund scam. Thankfully, the member discussed what was going on with their kids, who informed the member it sounded like a scam they had heard about. Because the member then took quick action by calling us, we were able to freeze their accounts and learn their personal device was compromised. The member was able to get their device cleared and, although not guaranteed, they were also able to get their wired funds reversed back to them.
