Protect yourself from overdraft fees with the Fox overdraft protection features
Fox Communities Credit Union offers multiple overdraft protection options for members
If there’s one constant in this world, it’s that life always seems to be moving faster and faster as we all get busier and busier. And that means we’ve all got less time to keep an eye on the little things in life, such as your Fox Communities Credit Union checking account balance. And we all know what can happen then – overdraft fees. But when you’re a member at Fox, you have access to Fox overdraft protection features, which can help protect you against overdraft fees. So, let’s take a look at the different overdraft protection features available to Fox members.
LISTING THE WAYS FOX COMMUNITIES CREDIT UNION HELPS OUR MEMBERS AVOID OVERDRAFT FEES
As we mentioned in our introduction, Fox members have access to multiple overdraft protection options. But which one is right for you? Let’s find out.
- Overdraft Transfer1: Enrolling in the overdraft transfer service helps prevent NSF (non-sufficient funds) fees or an overdrawn account when your checking account doesn’t have a sufficient available balance to pay for an item. Instead, this service will automatically move available funds from your designated savings account to your checking account in the event of an overdraft. If the amount transferred is less than $10, there is no fee. However, there is a $10 fee for every transfer amount that exceeds $10.
- Courtesy Pay2 (Standard Overdraft Protection): Courtesy pay is a special service available to qualified members to provide an additional safety net for your checking account. If you select to opt into the courtesy pay program and authorize Fox to pay ATM and one-time debit card purchases, then courtesy pay will cover the transactions that result in an overdraft on your account. This feature can be combined with the overdraft transfer feature, in which case it will only kick in if the transaction amount is more than the funds available in both your checking account and your designated savings account. In order to be eligible3 for the courtesy pay feature, your account must have been open for at least 45 days and in good standing. Once your account meets those requirements and you opt in, a courtesy pay limit of $500 will be available to you. There is a $26 fee4 assessed for each overdrawn item.
HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR OVERDRAFT TRANSFER OR OPT INTO COURTESY PAY?
You can sign up for the overdraft transfer feature when opening your Fox Free Checking account, your Fox Checking Plus account, your Fox Rewards Checking account, or your Fox Civic Club Checking account. If you already have one of these accounts, simply contact our friendly Fox team to set up your overdraft transfer and courtesy pay features – just remember, you need to specifically tell us if you want courtesy pay to cover debit card transactions.
