Online Security

Online Security

Steps you should take to keep your information & yourself safe online.

Do not give out your Digital Banking information to anyone!
By providing someone with your username and password, you have now opened up the door for them to potentially:

  • Change your username and password
  • Change your email and mailing address
  • Sign up for services like Mobile Check Deposit and Bill Pay where they can send themselves funds from your account

Make your login credentials tough to crack.

  • Change passwords frequently
  • Use strong PINs/passwords (follow our suggested criteria):
    1. At least eight to ten characters in length
    2. Alphanumeric
    3. Case sensitive
    4. Require the use of at least one special character (e.g., [email protected]#$%&)
    5. Don’t use public knowledge information (e.g., your child’s name, birthdate, street address, etc.)
  • Use a different username and password for each online application

Beware! Scam artists may do the following to get your Digital Banking information:

  • Contact you offering to send you money (in most cases they’re someone you have never met in person)
  • Contact you online with an offer that is too good to be true
  • Give you “good reasons” why they need your Digital Banking access… for instance to move money into or through your account

You will NEVER need to provide your Digital Banking information to…

  • Receive payment from an employer
  • Receive proceeds from a loan
  • Make online purchases

Other useful tips and tricks to being a smart online user.

  • Verify the website by checking the URL (web address) to be sure there is no misspellings or other signs that it may be “spoofed”
  • Make sure your virus protection is turned on and up to date – it’s important to install antivirus, anti-spyware, and anti-malware programs on your home computers (this includes making sure the signature files are updated by downloading and installing updates on a daily basis)
  • Keep your operating system (i.e. windows, osx) and internet browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, FireFox) up to date with the latest security patches
  • Never leave your computer unattended while logged into your credit union accounts
  • Do not use public access computers to access your credit union accounts through online banking – computers accessible to the public may be infected with viruses and/or malicious software, such as Trojans and keyloggers
  • Sign out using the “Log Off” button and close the browser when done using Digital Banking
  • Contact us immediately if you feel like you have received any suspicious email or telephone inquiry seeking account or personal information or if at any time your Digital Banking information has fallen victim to fraud or identity theft
