Grow your financial literacy with free seminars throughout April

They say you should try to learn at least one new thing every day. Well, that’s going to be especially easy during the month of April. Not only is April Financial Literacy Month, it’s also the home of Money Smart Week – and both feature multiple chances to boost your financial education. There are even events for the kiddos, because it’s never too early to start learning smart spending and budgeting strategies.

Free seminars taking place during Financial Literacy Month and Money Smart Weekmoney smart week 2023 flyer

There are five free seminars during the month of April, each with a different topic and valuable financial education information.

  • Applying for FASFA | Wednesday, April 12 at 4pm | Fox Valley Technical College Room E108 (Entrance 10)
    • Overview of what to expect for cost of attending college, while providing several different options to pay for college from federal funding to scholarships and outside sources.
  • Passing the Buck or Passing it On | Saturday, April 15 at 1pm | Menasha Public Library
    • Protecting families from conflict and financial loss associated with incapacity during health declines, and estate transitions upon passing.
  • Planning AHEAD: Handling Financial Changes Later in Life | Tuesday, April 18 at 12pm | Menasha Public Library
    • This program overview features an online planning workbook to help organize the tasks and documents associated with end-of-life decisions.
  • Grocery Store Tour | Wednesday, April 19 at 10am | Festival Foods on Northland Ave.
    • In a grocery store tour you will learn how to save money while shopping for healthy options.
  • Buying Your First Home | Friday, April 21 at 12 pm | Kaukauna Public Library
    • The purpose of this workshop is to provide practical information that will prepare and guide you through the home-buying process.

    • Presented by Katie Cullum of the University of Arkansas System, Division of Agriculture
  • Instituciones Financieras | Tuesday, April 18 @ 1pm
    • Presented by Vanessa Arita Reyes of the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions
  • Debt Relief | Wednesday, April 19 @ 1pm
    • Presented by Bruce McCleary of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling
  • Employer Retirement Plans | Thursday, April 20 @ 1pm
    • Presented by Kimberly Johnson of the U.S. Department of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration
