Week 9: How many Luft Balloons?
Posted on by Lindsay DiedrichOk, ok, so it’s “99 Luftballons,” not nine, I know. But you guys, this is getting tough. I don’t know what I was thinking with this whole songs with numbers in them thing. I think from here on, we’re switching to songs about money.
Friday Night Fish Fry
My family is a supper club family, as most are in Wisconsin. Friday night fish? Check. Old Fashioned in hand? Check. That’s us. This past weekend we stopped at a place we had been to a few times on our way up north. Put our name on the list (10-15 minutes, they said) and there we sat. About 40 minutes went by when I just wanted to check and see if we were coming up soon. There were still four names ahead of us. Twenty minutes later (it’s now almost 9pm) we were seated in a mostly empty section, save for two tables. And there we sat for another ten minutes, until my sister went to check and see if our waiter/waitress actually existed (they didn’t, apparently).
My motto is, “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle.” Hungry as we were, we collectively, tactfully, and kindly voiced our displeasure to our newly assigned waitress who agreed, took our orders, and then proceeded to take the price of the soup & salad bars off our bill. That was a savings of twelve dollars (however, we may have drank that savings previously while waiting to be seated)! My point is, when it’s reasonable and you’re unhappy with the service you’re experiencing, let someone know about it! And personally, I think kindness will serve your cause much better in the end.
